Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, conferred yesterday with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy, Edmondo Cirielli, on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Recalling the recent meetings between Prime Ministers, Abiy Ahmed and Giorgia Meloni, Birtukan noted that the meeting between the leaders are testaments to the fact that the longstanding Ethiopia-Italy diplomatic relations are being elevated to a higher level.
Reiterating Ethiopia’s keen interest to boost the historical relations, Ambassador Birtukan said Ethiopia is keen to further expedite cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, regional, defence and intelligence issues of mutual interest.
Deputy Foreign Minister Cirielli, on his part, expressed the readiness of the Italian Government to closely work with the Government of Ethiopia on further bolstering ties in the areas of investment, trade and development cooperation.
