Addis ababa: Addis Ababa City Mayor Adanech Abiebie has emphasized that the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) signifies more than just a national achievement for Ethiopia; it is a beacon for all of Africa, symbolizing unity, integration, and shared prosperity across the continent.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, during a massive rally at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, Mayor Adanech highlighted the dam’s completion as a historic achievement that showcases Ethiopia’s determination and resilience. Thousands of residents gathered, expressing pride and gratitude for what they termed a ‘national victory.’
Adanech pointed out that the GERD has altered the region’s geopolitical landscape and renewed hope for black people globally. She asserted that the dam’s completion demonstrates Africa’s capability to undertake transformative projects using its own resources and professionals.
