Ethiopia, China Enjoying Strong Political Mutual Trust


Addis Ababa: China and Ethiopia have a strong political mutual trust which could be an example of solidarity and cooperation among developing countries, a Chinese diplomat in Addis Ababa said.

Chinese Embassy Spokesperson in Addis Ababa has given a lecture under the theme “China’s Diplomacy in the New Era,” at the Institute of Foreign Affairs today.

In October last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed decided to upgrade the China and Ethiopia relations to ‘All Weather Strategic Partnership.’

The spokesperson elaborated that Ethiopia and China have carried out fruitful cooperation across the board. It’s an example of solidarity and cooperation among developing countries.

Moreover, the spokesperson pointed out that China and Ethiopia could take the lead in terms of bilateral, political mutual trust, Belt and Road cooperation as well as cooperation on international affairs.

“China and Ethiopia can also maintain coordination and cooperation on the international stage and regional
issues such as Security Council reform, climate change, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, as to safeguard the common interests of both countries and all developing countries.’

The cooperation between Ethiopia and China will usher in an even more promising future with more fruitful outcomes to be expected, the Spokesperson reiterated.

Speaking on China and Africa relationship, the diplomat elaborated that the friendship and mutual trust between China and Africa has been growing rapidly.

China has remained Africa’s biggest trading partner, the diplomat said, adding China will continue to stand firmly with the African brothers and support Africa development.

China will assist Africa in building capacity for self-driven development and support faster modernization in Africa, according to diplomat.
